The Sun is not the center of the chart but its central question: what is this person growing toward? Traditional texts treat it as the significator of vitality, life force and the father; modern astrology, of identity and the direction of conscious will.
The Sun sign describes not what a person is but what they are developing toward. The distinction matters, because people often say they do not recognize themselves in their Sun sign. The Sun is not a starting point but a sense of direction.
The house the Sun occupies shows the area of life where a person is most visible and spends their energy most naturally. The aspects made to the Sun determine how freely that expression flows.
