A choice that brings your heart and your values together. Harmony and union.
The Lovers upright
A choice that brings your heart and your values together. Harmony and union. The 22 Major Arcana cards describe thresholds rather than everyday choices. When one turns up, the question usually belongs to a bigger cycle in your life.
The Lovers reversed
Disharmony, indecision, or compromising your values.
A reversed card is not automatically bad news. It can mean the upright meaning is weaker, turned inward, or flipped; the cards around it tell you which.
In love and relationships
A choice where your heart and your values need to say the same thing. Not the easy option, the right one.
Work and money
A decision between two paths. The card doesn't say which one is right; it says choosing can't be avoided.
Advice
Not choosing is also a choice, and usually the most expensive one.
Is The Lovers yes or no?
Yes. Positive, but it makes you choose: you can't have both. A good answer to relationship questions; if you asked "can I have both?", the answer changes.
Astrological correspondence
In the Golden Dawn system, which the Rider-Waite-Smith deck was drawn within, The Lovers corresponds to Gemini.
